GIFSHIP.                                                                                                 GROUP, INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, SOCIAL HEALTH INSURANCE  PROGRAMME,

Enrollment through Mutual Health Association

As part of the federal government policy to enroll all Nigerians in one form of insurance or other, our Mutual Health Association has registered with the National Health Insurance Authority to provide health insurance for Nigerians under the GIFSHIP Scheme.

Our Group, individual, Family Social Health Insurance Programme, GIFSHIP is one of the insurance schemes across Ekiti State. We are different because we operate at the community level. We enroll people from household to household.

We organise our members into a cooperative organisation, the MUTUAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION to assist members to secure health insurance.

The government requires each individual to pay health insurance premium of approximately 38,500 naira to NHIA to secure insurance cover for 12 months. We assist our vulnerable members with subsidy in order to gain health insurance.

Healthcare For Everyone, Everytime, Everywhere

 Mutual Health Association (MHA)

We hope to provide healthcare for everyone, every time, everywhere by establishing Mutual Health Associations in communities.  MHA will drive localized awareness of pre-paid membership benefits. Current research evidence emphasises poor awareness of the benefits of health insurance in many rural communities.

Household by Household Recruitment

MHA will systematically recruit members household by household, participate in ethical and financial audits and enhance transparency.

Community Ownership

MHA emphasises community ownership of the health system because voluntary participation and institutional legitimacy are essential for sustained enrollment.

Poor People Are Not Left Out

Furthermore, our approach will actively prioritise enrollment for means-tested vulnerable individuals in alignment with equity objectives under state and national health financing systems.    This means testing is best carried out in the community with a validated instrument.

We Work With The Government for Universal Health Coverage

The federal government is providing Universal Health Coverage for Nigerians

This is a programme whereby all citizens of Nigeria can gain access to the health care they require, primary or secondary or tertiary healthcare, without catastrophic health spending.

Healthcare Access Covenant exists to ensure that every Nigerian can take advantage of government policy and receive quality healthcare without suffering financial hardship by helping governments build sustainable, equitable health financing system in communities.

We collaborate with the State and Federal Governments to enroll people for health insurance paid for by the government.

All you have to do is register for the programme and pay a small Insurance Premium of only 38,500 naira per annum. And your health is covered

Few people are actually aware of the efforts of the federal government health scheme in Nigeria regulated by the NHIA, designed to cover individuals, small businesses, and retirees outside formal civil service.

With just NGN38,500, you can enroll by joining our Mutual Health Association.

Benefits cover out-patient consultations, maternity services, specialist services and emergency care.
